Institut Marquès improves the results of its egg donations programme
The results of the egg donation programme of Institut Marquès for the past 2 years are exceptional:
With the EGG4 programme (four eggs per patient), the Spanish centre, a reference in the Assisted Reproduction field, obtains an average of 2,1 good quality blastocysts per cycle. The clinical pregnancy rate is of 61,5% per transfer and 85% per cycle. Only in 9% of the cases, no good quality blastocyst was achieved.
When 6 or 7 oocytes are obtained, the amount of good quality blastocysts is of 3,1 per cycle. The pregnancy rate is of 65,2% per transfer and 91% per cycle. Only in 1,8% of the cases there was no good quality blastocyst to transfer.
When over 8 oocytes are obtained, the number of good quality blastocysts is of 3,2 per cycle. The pregnancy rate is 65% per transfer and 90% per cycle. Only in 1,6% of the cases no good quality blastocyst could be transferred.
These excellent results have been achieved by transferring a single embryo in 90% of the treatments. The results prove that, more than the amount of eggs, what is really important is their quality, as well as the quality of the laboratories and the medical team in charge of the treatment.
This is the conclusion of a recent study by Institut Marquès that was awarded the First Prize of the Interest Area of Sterility and Infertility in the 35th edition of the National Congress of the Spanish Gynaecology and Obstetrics Society (SEGO).
The results demonstrate a clear benefit of a single blastocyst transfer in order to improve the success rates and confirm that the chances of twin pregnancy are thus dramatically reduced.
