A growing number of patients are travelling to Hungary for dental treatment in response to the cost and scarcity of NHS dentists in the UK.
Although it may seem like a long way to go for treatment, dental tourists are finding that they can pay for travel and accommodation as well as the cost of dental treatment in Hungary and still make significant savings compared to seeking treatment at home.
One dentist in Budapest, Dr Toth Bagi Zoltan, revealed that he treats patients from many European countries, including a growing number from Britain.
"I have had a lot of patients coming for implants from Germany, Austria and even Russia but I'm seeing more from England," he told the Hertfordshire Mercury.
"I had one patient coming from Hertford and they told friends, so I have got more and more coming," he revealed.
Nicole Want, an office worker from Hertford who received treatment from Dr Zoltan, confirmed that she had been impressed by her experience of treatment abroad.
"I was quoted £10,000 for three implants and to replace three root canal fillings in England," she told the newspaper.
"Toth charged £2,000 for three implants, three crowns, five white fillings and two root canals - and I had my teeth cleaned and had several X-rays," she revealed.
