We all talk how emotions and thoughts affect the body. How come then, when a IVF treatment is on the line, the mental and psychological status of the couple are rarely taken into account beforehand ?
When fertilty issues emerge the couple's bodies become the main and only focus for the therapy. What about the thoughts and feelings? Usually they are taken into consideration only when the woman especially and the couple's relationship starts going into pieces.
And then issues of mourning, anger, despair are so strong that sometimes can cover the boosting of positive thoughts and emotions.
In any case, the usual practice is to ask for psychological support, after the IVF treatment has started and usually after at least a couple of treatments have failed! The couple mourns, but it is required from both of them to go on without a hinge.
SO the sensible way is to ask for mental and psychological support BEFORE the treatment starts. It is recommended that there are discussions about the feelings that have both partners, the ways of coping, their anxieties and after that to start the medical treatment.
When emotional and mental support is offered BEFORE the medical treatment, the given success possibilities are maximized. So it is important to support and prepare the body before the actual chosen treatment, clearing the soul and the mind.
