The number of men opting to have cosmetic surgery is on the rise and there is no longer a stigma attached to undergoing procedures, according to one contented patient.
Alan Duncan, a 37-year-old salesman from Rosyth, Scotland, regularly went to the gym and had tried toning treatments, but was still unable to lose the stomach flab and 'love handles' that had been with him since youth.
In an interview with the Scotsman, Mr Duncan revealed that he finally decided to take the plunge and have liposuction, a procedure that he spent £3,500 on last December.
The operation, which took around 45 minutes and was performed at a cosmetic surgery hospital in Spain, was "surprisingly not painful", he said.
"I had to wear a support garment for six weeks, but when I took the bandages off I had a smile on my face. There was a marked difference," he revealed.
Mr Duncan is happy to admit to being one of the 2,500 British men who underwent cosmetic surgery last year, according to British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) figures, and he confirmed that, although happy with his appearance at present, he would be open to considering more surgery further down the line.
