A new, state-of-the-art hospital is to be built in the Philippines, providing services for both local people and overseas patients seeking treatment abroad.
The contract for the new Bay Pointe hospital has now been signed, signalling the green light for a project which will provide the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, a key industrial and commercial area, with the very latest medical technology.
Feliciano Salonga, chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), told local news site Bayanihan that the area was "off to a good start".
"Providing a high quality medical facility is part of SBMA's social responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy environment," he explained, noting that the new hospital would serve over 62,000 workers and executives of multi-national companies operating in the area, as well as the medical tourism industry.
There will initially be a 100-bed unit, with an eventual upgrade to 300 beds, and technologies for diagnosis and treatment will include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), CT scans, advanced ultrasound technology, and state-of-the-art cardio equipment.
The hospital will offer executive health check-ups, cosmetic surgery, dental treatment and eye surgery with care packages specifically designed for those seeking treatment abroad.
Patients can be assured of a high level of medical care and the hospital will be ideally located for medical tourists, as the surrounding area is renowned for its clean environment and beauty.
It also has good provision for sports and eco-tourism and offers tourists much in the way of beaches, historical and cultural charm.
Dr Roberto De Leon, hospital director of Bay Pointe Hospital and Medical Centre, added that the new hospital would be manned by "generously committed medical personnel to ensure customers satisfaction by providing kind-hearted and reliable service".
