Why is there an increasing need for fertility treatment?

On a global level, 15% of men suffer from some sort of infertility, while nearly 20% of women have fertility problems. With such a large percentage of the population suffering from infertility globally, it is no surprise that there is such a huge demand for IVF treatment and a requirement for fertility solutions for men and women alike.

Medicover Fertility Clinic is a leading fertility treatment provider in North India, providing an array of treatments, including Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI), In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Donor Egg or Sperm, Surrogacy, Fertility Preservation and various other advanced fertility treatments.

One of the main reasons there is an increased demand for fertility treatment is the popular choice of delayed parenthood. Today it is common practice for couples to plan having children at a later stage in their marriage. Female fertility reduces with age. It is difficult for a woman aged over 40 to conceive naturally and this is the reason most older couples opt for IVF treatment when they plan to have a baby. They realise that the sooner they have a baby the better in terms of fertility and quality of female eggs.

Men continue to produce sperm right through their lives. However, women are born with a limited number of eggs, known as the ovarian reserve. With each menstrual cycle the number of eggs diminishes, and with age the quality of the eggs deteriorates.  India offers donor sperm and donor eggs exclusively for patients of Indian origin. International patients of Indian origin can take advantage of this option, should the need arise. However, patients who are not of Indian origin need to arrange their own donor, should they require one.

The Indian government has also banned surrogacy in India for patients of international origin. Only patients of Indian origin can use an Indian surrogate mother to carry their baby. In the case of surrogacy, the embryo is usually formed with the egg and sperm of the parents. Due to some short comings with the mother’s uterus she is not able to carry the baby to term and hence the couple use the services of a surrogate mother.

India offers some of the best IVF services available. At Medicover Fertility Clinic, they use advanced techniques such as assisted hatching, Endometrial Receptivity Array, time lapse imaging and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis. These technologies help with ensuring a successful pregnancy.

The state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities at Medicover Fertility centres in India have made it the country’s leading chain of fertility clinics, providing treatment for a large number of Indian, as well as international, patients.
