About VE Medical

VE Medical is a 9000 ft² medical centre located at Orange Grove Plaza in the north of St. Lucia. Established over 35 years ago and owned by British/St Lucian, Glad Taylor, the centre boasts a state-of-the-art surgery suite with two operating theatres. One devoted to ophthalmic surgery including cataract, glaucoma, pterygium, oculoplastic and all retinal surgeries. The other dedicated to orthopaedic and skin graft surgeries. The operating theatres are supported by a full sterilisation unit, pre-surgery and recovery suites and an ICU.

Facilities at VE Medical also include a diagnostic and treatment room for ophthalmology providing eye injections, laser for diabetic retinopathy and collagen cross-linking for keratoconus, optometry services, wound clinic, physiotherapy clinic, diagnostics laboratory, prescribing pharmacy and Medi Spa.

Eye surgery in the Caribbean

The Ophthalmology service at VE Medical is led by Retinal Specialist, Dr Alejandro Guerra and includes the latest treatments for glaucoma, cataract and retinal disorders, as well as comprehensive screening for eye conditions with advanced technology, including Fundus Camera, Optical Coherence Tomography and Corneal Topography.

A full range of oculoplastic procedures, including ptosis correction, eyelid surgery and blocked tear duct surgery is provided by Dr Stefan Khan FRCS, a fellowship-trained oculoplastic surgeon.

Orthopaedics and pain management

Led by Dr Marco Diaz, the pain clinic at VE Medical offers early and accurate diagnosis of acute and chronic orthopaedic pain disorders, including sciatica, shoulder, back, neck, hip and knee pain. Treatment is focused on the use of minimally invasive options such as epidural steroid, nerve blocks and other injections, alongside physiotherapy support.

Advanced wound care

VE Medical offers specialised treatment for chronic, hard to heal wounds, particularly in patients with diabetic foot and leg ulcers, as well as deep cuts and burns. Treatments available include debridement, medicated dressings, hyperbaric oxygen leg bagging, Platelet Rich Plasma wound healing and surgical skin graft.

Diagnostics and health screening

The Diagnostics Lab at VE Medical is equipped to provide a wide range of diagnostic services, including blood testing, cholesterol and lipid monitoring, 12-lead EKG, ankle brachial testing, coagulation screening, chest/portable X-ray, angiogram, testosterone check and homocysteine testing.
