I have wanted a blepharoplasty for many years, and my first thought when seeing the results of the operation was ‘I wish I had had it done earlier.’ If you have had eye bags and droopy lids for decades like me, seeing eyelids and no bags for the first time is wonderful. Prague offers excellent value for money. I researched surgeons thoroughly and chose Dr. Lukas Frajer, who is a very capable surgeon. A friend of mine (senior NHS nurse) commented that he had done an excellent job. I received brilliant support from John, the driver, who transported me to and from the airport, and from Veronika, who was very supportive during my stay, available via mobile phone, and even volunteered to help me on a Saturday. I had twilight anaesthesia, which I would recommend as I knew nothing about the operation and felt no pain. Getting my stitches out in the UK was the most painful part, and I would recommend staying long enough in Prague to have your stitches taken out and to enable a proper post-operative consultation. I’d also recommend staying in self-catering accommodation, as I did look very bruised and battered for 6 days post-op, and it was nice to relax at home and not have to go out to restaurants wearing sunglasses.
