The number of heart transplantations carried out by Samsung Medical Center has exceeded 300.
Samsung Medical Center, which was the first hospital in Korea to have a multidisciplinary heart failure team, has been recognized as the best multidisciplinary heart failure team in Korea by providing the best medication and advanced mechanical treatment for patients with terminal heart failure, who have no alternative treatment.
The multidisciplinary treatment course offers optimal treatment by having all related departments, such as Division of cardiology, cardiac surgery, critical care medicine, ECMO team, cardiovascular rehabilitation team, clinical pharmacist, social work office and nutrition team exchange opinions in real-time.
In particular, the continuous-flow left ventricular assist device surgery introduced by Professor Lee Young-tak and Jeon Eun-seok's team in 2012 has become an alternative for patients who are not eligible to receive heart transplantation, and currently, Samsung Medical Center treats more than 50% of patients in Korea.
