For the second time the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Temos host an international conference on health tourism. In the framework of the „2nd International Temos Conference – Healthcare Abroad & Health Tourism“ international experts discuss from November 14 to 16 2010 opportunities and risks of medical treatment abroad. Further topics of the Conference, which takes place in the “MediaPark” Cologne, are dental tourism, assistance medicine, telemedicine applications for health tourism, travelers, and chronically ill patients.

The Conference offers participants from (travel) health insurances, assistances, research and science, politics and medical service providers an excellent platform for business and the exchange of knowledge.

UNO and the European Space Agency ESA are also involved in the Temos Conference.

Growing market: health tourism

More and more people are traveling worldwide for private or business reasons; in 2009 more than 1 billion people. Parallel to an increasing number of travelers the number of patients – either due to an emergency or planned medical treatment – rises too.

Health tourism is one of the growing markets worldwide. But the treatment of international patients is a challenge: quality, costs, different cultures, and legal aspects have to be considered and distances have to be overcome. The Temos Conference deals with these topics in expert presentations, discussions and the exhibition.
