Singapore's successful medical tourism industry has been recognised at the TravelWeekly Industry Awards, which were held in Hong Kong earlier this month.
The nation received the Best Tourism Branding award for its effective marketing of the industry to the rest of the world, as well as the award for Best Medical/Wellness Tourism Destination.
Dr Jason Yap, director of healthcare services at the Singapore Tourism Board, commented: "Singapore is widely regarded as a leading destination for international healthcare seekers.
"Singapore received 410,000 international healthcare visitors in 2006 and many others sought ancillary healthcare services while in Singapore for other purposes.
"Because patients know that they would receive excellent, safe and trustworthy care in Singapore, they have peace of mind when their health really matters," he added.
The awards were decided by over 158,000 online voters who selected the winners from a shortlist compiled by travel experts.
