Scottish consumers will be able to book new medical tourism holidays this summer, thanks to a new range of deals from Barrhead Travel.
The company, which was founded by Bill Munro, plans to launch new holidays to France, Belgium, Germany, Norway and Egypt, all of which will enable tourists to combine medical treatment with a well-deserved break.
Norway is popular among patients who need diagnostic imaging, while Egypt is staking its claim as a cosmetic surgery destination.
Mr Munro told the Daily Record that deals would be 30 to 50 per cent cheaper than in the UK, and that travel and accommodation would be included in the price.
"People having cosmetic work will be able to fly and those having orthopaedic treatment will be able to use European rail services, including the Channel Tunnel," he revealed.
The businessman noted that there is a "great deal of demand" for medical tourism.
"People are fed up of waiting lists and scared of the spread of MRSA, so going overseas is becoming more popular," he explained.
