The number of tourists visiting Argentina has increased in recent years, but it seems many of these globetrotters are being attracted by more than just the culture and scenery.
According to a report in the Guardian, a growing number of tourists are visiting the South American country for surgical procedures, drawn to the nation by a combination of top-class cosmetic surgeons and prices that are frequently only a third of those found in England.
A number of boutique clinics have sprung up in Argentina, offering everything from gastric bypass and ultrasonic liposuction to penis enlargement.
Martin Diaz Andrade, marketing coordinator of one such clinic, Plenitas, said that tailor-made services are provided.
"We meet our patients at the airport, book their accommodation, arrange for them to meet the surgeon beforehand and then follow up with them once they return home," Mr Andrade told the Guardian.
"Some of our patients have not travelled much in the past, so there's a natural concern about coming to Argentina," he explained.
"We try to put them at ease by taking good care of them and giving them all the information they need."
The clinic currently attracts around 500 foreign patients every year who are treated to inclusive hotel accommodation, airport transfers and an English-speaking personal assistant.
