The Luxury Cosmetic & Vein Care Centre was established in 1999 by GMC registered Consultant Vascular Surgeon Dr Giuseppe Serpieri. The clinic specialises in the treatment of varicose veins and aesthetic medicine such as skin revitalisation and anti-ageing treatments, facial aesthetics, Macrolane, laser liposuction, needling, peels and Botox.

About Vascular Surgeon Dr Giuseppe Serpieri

Dr Serpieri attained his Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Turin in 1986. He is registered with the British General Medical Council – reference number 7418507.

He is the founder and Scientific Director of the Luxury Cosmetic & Vein Care Centre, and is a contributor to numerous websites dedicated to venous disorders and aesthetic medicine.

An internationally recognised expert in the application of the most sophisticated cutting-edge technologies in endovascular venous surgery, Dr Serpieri specialises in surgery of the Great and Small Saphenous vein through minimally-invasive procedures.

He is currently considered one of the leading experts in echo-guided endovascular techniques (EVLA, ClosureFAST, Clarivein™, VenaSeal™ Sapheon) for more advanced treatment of varicose disease of the lower limbs.

Throughout his career Dr Serpieri has been a pioneer in his field.

What are varicose veins?

Varicose veins are a very common medical condition, affecting up to 50% of people over the age of fifty. Varicose veins are accompanied by symptoms such as pain in the lower limbs, feeling of heaviness and fatigue, and swelling of the ankles.

These symptoms tend to worsen with the passage of time. To alleviate the symptoms, rest with your legs elevated.

In normal conditions the valves present within the venous systems are closed to prevent the blood from flowing downward due to the force of gravity. But when these valves become weak and are no longer able to close properly, the blood tends to leak back, ie to return downwards.

Varicose veins are those in which the valves have lost their effectiveness to retain the blood and the result is their expansion due to the increase in blood volume within them.
