Dental implants

Dental implants are a long-term solution for missing teeth. Designed to last a lifetime, they provide the aesthetics, sensation and functionality of natural teeth.

Equipped with advanced CBCT imaging, the experts at ZDC are able to make an accurate and detailed analysis of the quality and quantity of the jawbone, as well as the health of any remaining teeth. In a comprehensive consultation, they are able to determine if a patient is a suitable candidate for dental implants and which type of implant would work best. Options available include a ceramic crown on an implant, bridges on the implants, a prosthesis on the implants and All-on-4®.

Implant placement is most commonly performed under local anaesthesia and typically takes from one to three hours, depending on the number of implants. The incision in the gum takes approximately two weeks to heal. Over the next three to six months, the implants will fuse with the surrounding jawbone is a process known as osseointegration. This is monitored by means of follow-up appointments. Once, the team at ZDC determine that the area is fully healed and the implant is fully integrated into the jawbone, a crown is fitted on top of the implant screw.

Ceramic veneers

Ceramic veneers are thin ‘leafs’ of ceramics attached to the front surface of the tooth. They can be used to improve the appearance of the teeth, hide imperfections or correct problems with crooked teeth, tooth colour or spacing.

Ceramic crowns and bridges

Ceramic crowns and bridges are a natural-looking and lasting solution in situations when there are many teeth missing or when the teeth are severely damaged or aesthetically poor. Crowns and bridges can be constructed from glass ceramics, zirconium ceramics and metal ceramics. The decision on which material to use is based on the current state of the teeth, as well as on the aesthetics and function required.

Dental prostheses

Dental prostheses or dentures are a removable solution for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They can be complete or partial.
