Innovative and effective cancer treatment

In recent years, techniques such as multi-modality protocols for cancers have led to prompt treatment and improved survival rates. In particular, an emphasis on early detection, has helped reduce the death rate from many different types of cancer.

Innovative and effective cancer treatments are not always considered as ‘gold standard’ or have been approved by a country’s health authorities, for example the USA’s FDA. For this reason, as much as for reasons of economy, many patients are travelling abroad for treatments that are not available in their home nation.

Paris Cancer Abroad in conjunction with the Alleray Labrouste Oncology Center offers targeted therapy using Deep Loco-regional Microwave Hyperthermia, a treatment that is already approved for use in Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Deep Loco-regional Microwave Hyperthermia

Hyperthermia is a type of cancer treatment which uses high temperatures to damage and kills cancer cells, usually with minimal damage to surrounding normal tissues.

At the Alleray Labrouste Oncology Center, microwave hyperthermia is combined with an ultra-low dose of a platinum-based anti-neoplastic agent in a treatment protocol known as Deep Loco-regional Microwave Hyperthermia. The platinum ions concentrate in the tumour, increasing the efficacy and specificity of the treatment.

Deep Loco-regional Microwave Hyperthermia is totally non-invasive and well tolerated by the body during the 60 minutes of daily therapy. The majority of patients undergoing the treatment do not experience any discomfort. In keeping with Paris Cancer Abroad’s philosophy to avoid unnecessary or potentially harmful treatment, the therapy focuses solely on the programmed cell death of the tumour (apoptosis) and avoids the risk of metastatic spread of the cancer to other tissues associated with surgery (as reported in a recent study of melanoma patients published by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology).
