Compare the cost of pituitary gland tumour removal abroad
The main treatment for pituitary tumours is transsphenoidal surgery. A neurosurgeon approaches the hypothalamus through the sinuses using an endoscope, carves through the bone to reach the hypothalamus and removes the tumour via the same passage. While the technique is brain surgery, and performed under general anaesthetic, the brain matter is never touched in the surgery and so carries significantly less risk.
