Brachytherapy is a form of radiotherapy, used to treat a number of types of cancer. It uses a short ranged radioactive emitter, inserted directly into the tumour to provide a highly targeted source of ionising radiation. This technique can be combined with other therapies such as surgery, beam radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
