Good clinical work, but pricing transparency fell short of expectations

Review of Helvetic Dental Clinics Budapest by Kumar. Treatment date: February, 2026

I had a Neodent Helix GM implant placed at Helvetic Clinics Budapest in early 2026. The implant procedure itself was professionally executed, the clinic is well-presented, and the surgical team were competent.

My concern is with the pricing process. The initial written estimate I received by email quoted Visit 2 (crown placement) at €340 total, with a single PFM crown option at €290. The formal quotation issued at the clinic on the day of treatment moved Visit 2 to €490–€660, introducing a more expensive screw-retained crown at €390 and recommending a zirconia upgrade at €560 —neither of which had been disclosed or explained in the original written estimate.

When I queried this, the clinic explained that screw-retained crowns are clinically preferable (which is a fair point) and that estimates given by phone and email are not the same as quotations after physical consultation. I understand the clinical reasoning, but I think prospective patients deserve to know that the headline price you receive by email may not reflect the final treatment plan, and that “fixed pricing” applies only after the in-clinic quotation, not before.

I have decided to complete the crown placement with a UK dentist, who provided an all-inclusive fee with no variation from initial enquiry to confirmation.

If you are considering Helvetic, my advice would be: ask explicitly about screw-retained vs cement-retained crowns, crown materials, and any additional x-rays or extras before travelling. The clinical care appears solid, but go in with your eyes open on pricing.
