Hand Radiation For Dupuytrens

Review of Cyberknife Center Hamburg by Dark Raven. Treatment date: over 12 months

I am 69 years old and have early Dupuytren’s disease in both hands. My father, who is older, has severe bilateral hand contractures which I hoped to avoid. After researching options online, I reviewed Professor Dr. Seegenschmiedt’s published data and concluded that the benefits of hand radiation outweighed the risks. Upon contacting Dr. S via email, he agreed to consult with me. Following a thorough physical examination, he suggested radiation could be beneficial, leaving the decision to me. I chose to proceed and underwent two accelerated courses of 1500 rad over 4 days, with a 12-month gap between them. Treatment concluded 3 months ago, resulting in no significant skin changes but slight stiffness and puffiness in my hands. There has been a reduction in nodule size in both hands, with overall excellent results. Prof. Dr. Seegenschmiedt and Dr. Schneider are proficient in English, personable, efficient, and professional, providing detailed treatment explanations that instill confidence. The radiation therapy team is also pleasant and efficient. However, I experienced disorganization at the front desk regarding appointment scheduling. Despite confirmation emails, they initially had no record of my appointments on the first treatment days. Nevertheless, they managed to arrange my treatment promptly. I highly recommend Strahlenzentrum Hamburg for treating Dupuytren’s disease.
