I received very good care from Professor Seegenschmiedt and his team at the clinic, from initial emails through my first week of treatment. The professor speaks excellent English, and the rest of the staff speak well enough to make the experience perfectly manageable. As is normal for anyone undergoing this treatment, I have to return for a second session of five doses of radiation. It is not possible to rate the outcome of treatment as the prognosis is that contracture will be halted in around 80% of people for approximately 10 years, but this is not guaranteed. However, I certainly feel that it was worth having the radiation rather than doing nothing and, hopefully, I will not need surgery. It is regrettable that, despite being approved by NICE, the NHS does not provide this treatment in the UK.
