In New Zealand there are medical tourism companies offering fully inclusive travel and treatment packages (medical holidays), which include the procedure, hospital stay, hotel accommodation, after-care, flights, visas as well as contingency insurance. By way of example, Medtral New Zealand, a company specialising in orthopaedic, cardiology and general surgery offers a total hip or knee replacement package for NZ$28,800 (approximately US$14,500) including all of the above, and 18 days stay in New Zealand.

UK or Western European patients may find that combining one of the many medical holidays that are on offer in New Zealand with some private treatment leaves them with a bill around the same if they had only had the procedure done in the UK.
