Cosmetic surgeon recommends Turkey for medical tourists

Turkey flag
Turkey is becoming increasingly well known as a suitable destination for medical tourism, one of the country's cosmetic surgeons has said.

According to Professor Ramazan Kahveci, head of plastic surgery at Bursa's Uludag University, the nation is already a popular holiday destination and now travellers seeking treatment abroad are increasingly being attracted by Turkey's medical reputation.

Professor Kahveci told the Cihan news agency that cosmetic surgeons in Turkey are on a par with those in other European Union member nations, and that procedures are often significantly cheaper than elsewhere.

"Considering it is also cheaper to have a vacation in Turkey, a European visitor may have a vacation and plastic surgery for just a month's salary," he revealed.

"They come, relax and become more beautiful. We have patients from many countries including the US, Canada, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan."

He also noted that doctors are very strict about the type of patients they will treat and warned that anyone with "extreme wishes" about the kind of aesthetic enhancement they are looking for is likely to be refused treatment.

Turkey is located just three-and-a-half hours from London by plane and benefits from a pleasant climate and high level of medical expertise.
