ProcreaTec is an international fertility center, run by professionals with over 20 years of experience in Assisted Reproduction techniques. At ProcreaTec they offer a large variety of treatments, from basic assistance to the most sophisticated techniques in reproductive medicine. The team is comprised of doctors specialized in fertility, biologists with many years of experience in embryology, an urologist who is an expert in the male aspect of fertility, a psychologist and a team of nurses and of customer care who are always interested in the well-being of all patients.

When should I research fertility clinics?

There are many factors that lead to infertility, but age is essential. If there is no known underlying disease, gynecologists recommend that patients be studied after a year of unprotected sex if the woman is under 35.


If the woman is over 35, 6 months of unprotected sex without pregnancy is the recommended moment to begin evaluation. If the woman is 40 or older, the assessment should be initiated after 3 months.


Generally speaking, this is how things are done but sometimes specialized attention is needed earlier. For example when a woman has a previous history of pelvic infection, a hereditary disease, 2 miscarriages or in the case of men, undescended testicles or a hereditary disease, a specialist may be consulted when the couple decides to have children. 

  

Evaluation of infertility

The first step that needs to be taken when up against a fertility problem is a correct diagnosis. In many cases there is more than one factor impeding conception, so it is essential to perform a correct and complete evaluation. 

 

The medical team will review the patient’s history and necessary testing will be prescribed to achieve an accurate diagnosis. If a male factor is diagnosed, consultation with our urologist may be recommended.

 

Most people that come to the ProcreaTec clinic have already spent some time trying to achieve pregnancy and are anxious to begin treatment. Their goal is to start as soon as a complete diagnosis has been reached, which is usually after one menstrual cycle.

Egg donation

There are two ways of co-ordinating your egg donation cycle. If your own consultant in your country is happy to support you through the process and prescribe the medication, then all preparation can be done there and you attend the clinic here for a one visit of 7 to 9 days at the point of donor egg collection and your embryo transfer.


Otherwise we would advise you to have an initial consultation with us where we can update any tests needed, prescribe medication for the treatment and discuss your treatment plan in detail. You also have the option of freezing a sperm sample at this appointment, thus shortening your next stay in Madrid – you would then only need to attend the clinic in time for the embryo transfer.


All donors are anonymous according to Spanish law. We aim to ensure that we provide a donor who matches your physical and blood group profile. All donors undergo tests to ensure that they are healthy and have no genetic anomalies. They also have a meeting with the clinic’s psychologist and no one is allowed to donate unless she passes all these tests. All donors are under 30 years of age. These young, healthy donors are one of the reasons why ProcreaTec’s success rate is one of the best in the world – around 60%.

ProcreaTec is open from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday. On Saturdays the clinic opens  from 8am to 1pm. Staff at the clinic can put you in contact with a company who can arrange your travel services and hotel.
