In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) Abroad
Brief description of the IVF process:
During IVF in Prague the egg is removed from the ovaries, fertilised by sperms in laboratory and the fertilised egg is then transferred into uterus. To have a higher probability of a successful result, one egg is not enough so they stimulate the ovarian activity with hormones, in order to have more eggs maturing at the same time. Effects of the treatment are repeatedly checked with ultrasound while checking the hormonal levels. When the eggs mature, they remove them with a needle inserted through the vaginal wall while checking the process with ultrasound, then we move the eggs to a special nutrient solution and add the sperms.
Embryo transfer:
After two to five days, The clinic inserts the embryos through vagina and uterine suppository into uterus, using a very thin catheter. The more embryos are transferred, the better chance of success there is, but the risk of multiple pregnancies is also increasing at the same time; that's why they usually transfer and insert only one or two embryos into the uterus at a time, only in extraordinary cases do they transfer more embryos. The other embryos can be frozen and transferred after defrosting in one of the next cycles so there is no need for the woman to undergo neither the ovarian stimulation, nor their punction. All steps of fertility treatment in Prague are outpatient treatments without being admitted to the hospital.
IVF In-Vitro Fertilisation – general schedule:
-
Possibility 1: Complete IVF cycle at our institute in Prague.
Arrival in Prague directly before menstruation, woman resides for approx. 3 weeks, residence of partner may be minimized to 1-2 days.
-
Possibility 2: IVF cycle in coordination with your gynaecologist
Two visits in Prague, the first may be managed in a single day. Subsequently, in an arbitrary further cycle, the stimulation treatment itself with check-ups by a coordinating gynaecologist, arrival 2 days prior to ova (egg) extraction, woman leaves approx. 7-9 days afterwards, the partner may leave after 2 days, or in case of use of frozen sperm, residence of partner is not necessary at all. In total this equates to 10 or 20 nights in Prague.
Egg Donation Programme abroad
PRAGA MEDICA assure your pregnancy in two following synchronized cycles, otherwise the third cycle is completely free of charge!
Egg Donation Programme (=oocyte donation) in Prague enables women, whose ovaries due to old age or some other reason don't contain eggs capable of fertilisation, to get pregnant. The egg donor is always a young woman less than 35 years old.
The sterility treatment using donor eggs is a legal treatment method in the Czech Republic, approved by the Act on human embryonic stem cell research and relevant activities and in the amendment of other relevant laws “from 2006. The basic legal principal states that the mother of a child is the woman who gives birth. The other principle embedded in this Act is absolute anonymity.
There are two ways to treat acquired donated eggs.
The first one uses sperm frozen beforehand. The eggs are fertilised by them and the resulting embryos are frozen. Then the transfer of these cryo-embryos proceeds in any of the following cycles.
In the second option only surplus embryos are frozen, and the selected number of foetuses is directly implanted into the uterus of the recipient. At this point we talk about the cycle with synchronisation.
The worldwide trend leans towards cycles with synchronisation, because they have a higher rate of success. Praga Medica also recommend their patients to choose this method. While the chance of impregnation by cycles with cryo-embryos moves between 20% up to 30% for one transfer, the success rate for synchronised cycles is approximately by 10 to 15% higher. In this case the woman has to undergo a hormonal treatment in advance which will harmonise her cycle with the donor's one. However, they believe this small disadvantage causing smaller time flexibility surely pays off.
Egg donation – general schedule:

Embryo donation abroad
"If no pregnancy occurs, Praga Medica will assign to you a new dose of frozen embryos free of charge!"
Donation of embryos is in the Czech Republic a legal treatment and is regulated by the law from the year 2006. From the professional point of view this involves a combination of simultaneous donation of oocytes and sperm. What unequivocally applies is that the mother is always the woman who gives birth to the child.
Origin of donated embryos:
We use embryos stored at our institute in a frozen state. They most often come from couples that were successfully treated at our institute and do not desire more children. The second possibility of embryo origin for donation is the fertilization of eggs of a voluntary female donor with sperm from a voluntary male donor.
