IVF treatment abroad in Czech Republic, Prague
First visit – Initial consultation
You will first need to have an initial consultation with the Iscare IVF team. You will need to bring a recent cytological check up, and any other laboratory results you have previously obtained. During your first visit some initial examinations can also be performed.
In vitro fertilisation (IVF)
Eggs produced by the administration of drugs for the treatment of infertility are removed and then fertilised with sperm in the laboratory. The resulting embryo is transferred through a thin catheter into the uterus.
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
Micromanipulation method that uses a special microscope, in which a single sperm immersion is used by a special needle directly into the egg. It is used when the male sperm count is low or in cases of sperm immobility.
Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
IUI treatment is when the doctor applies clarified sperm directly into the uterus using a catheter. Painless exercise that does not require anesthesia.
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD)
PGD is a molecular biological method allowing the selection of genetic status of the embryos, when performed with IVF treatment (See above). After suitable embryos have been produced a few cells are removed. These cells are pre-selected from the already tested technique and the healthy embryos are then transferred into the uterus of the patient or preserved for future use.
PICSI
A more natural and effective method for ICSI, when selecting sperm, which will be used for inserting into the egg (oocyte), a functional test is performed. Protein hyaluronan gel and sperm are placed into a petri dish, and then the sperm migrates to the gel. Only the mature receptors bind to the hyaluronan, and the embryologists then uses this sperm for inserting into the egg (oocyte) with the ICSI method.
Cryopreservation
Storage of organs or tissues at very low temperatures (freezing). Only frozen sperm or embryos that were not used in the cycle of assisted reproduction can be preserved for the next cycle.
Other infertility treatments
Continual embryo monitoring, artificial insemination by donor sperm, assisted hatching, kryoembryotransfer (KET), laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
