Dentistry in Slovakia : Dentist accreditation and qualifications

Slovakia - dentist accreditation

Dentists should hold a “doctor medicíny” which is the Slovak university diploma awarding the academic with the title of “doctor of medicine” (MuDr), or a BDS, BChD, or Licenciate in Dental Surgery (LDS).  Medical students in Slovakia train for six years to become a Dentist, more often studying at the University of Bratislava or at Kosice.  Upon graduating dentists should register with the Slovak Dental Council (the Komora), which is the equivalent of the British Dental Council regulating the dental professionals in the UK.

The medical regulatory authority in Slovakia is the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic located in Bratislava.  Tel + 421 2 593 73 111.  The Slovak Medical Council works under this.
